A Tale of Nine Lives
Hi! My name is Stanley. That is me up above. I live in an apartment with my humans, Nell and Ron. We used to live in a house. Let me explain how I came to be part of their household. A few years ago, I was out roaming around the country side and needed a lair. I found a nice cool place under a house in which to spend hot summer days. Soon, I saw Ron and Nell and they saw me. Nell tried to make friends (see at right) and I was hooked. After making friends, I had a run in with some dogs and fared badly. After a few days at the vets, I became a house cat.
I do a lot of things. Like, l Have tried my hand at the computer. However, I don't do that too well, so Nell is typing this for me. You can often find me on a swivel chair chasing my tail. That gets a laugh. I have also learned to chase my tail when it is not a swivel chair.
I help Nell a lot at a lot of things around here. One of those is helping Nell with the flowers planted on the balcony. I love to help planting and taking care of them. Of course, she gets a little ticked off at me when I start eating leaves.
I like to spend time playing games. Sometimes Nell and Ron join in. Other times it is just me running up and down the hall and hiding, hoping they will join in. There are many places I like to hide. Probably my most favorite is under a bed. I also have toys I like to play with sometimes. Sometimes it is behind a chair or under a table. I have fun resting in boxes and beds, too.
Just like I did when I was in the wild, I like to keep changing what I consider my lair or den. I still like to do it. Sometimes I even pick the fireplace. There is never a fire in it, so it is safe. Plus, it makes Nell and Ron hunt for me.
Part of the fun of looking out the windows, is watching my friend the squirrel up the tree. I think we could have great fun together if it weren't for the barrier between us. I watch the squirrels when I am on the balcony, also. There is much to see looking out the windows. I love it here because the windows are so low and that is great fun.
here are other ways I help. I love to help make beds, especially when the sheets are changed. Then I get trapped under the bottom fitted sheet. I also watch from the window in the computer room to guard the car. Then, it is a lot of fun to help Nell pack getting ready to take a trip.
